Over the past ten years, I have worked to develop a mandolin curriculum that focuses on technique, vocabulary, and musicianship. I specialize in McReynold’s style crosspicking, but can help you learn anything from Bach to Bill Monroe. I believe that a strong, relaxed plectrum hand and proper pick direction are the keys to developing good tone and a fluid sound. Whether you’re just getting started, an intermediate player looking for a technique checkup, a competition player looking for advice on preparing or arranging material, or a working mandolinist looking to learn some hot new crosspicking licks, I can help you move forward. Lessons at my studio are $25 per half hour, $45 per hour. Travel to you within a 25 mile radius for $60 an hour (1 hour minimum).
Online Lessons via Skype:
You will need a computer with a good internet connection, a webcam, and a Skype account. I will provide material in the form of pdf notation and tablature, in conjunction with audio or video recordings. Skype lessons must be paid for in advance via Paypal: my handle is mandolinjordan@gmail.com. $20 half-hour, $40 hour.
Transcription Services:
Can’t figure out that tricky break on your favorite mandolin player’s new CD? Let me help you. I offer mandolin related recording transcription services at $40 an hour. You send me a recording and specify what you would like transcribed, and I’ll provide you with a time quote. If the price is agreeable, you pay me and I’ll email you a pdf with notation, tablature, and chords.
